Trump’s Indictment

Mike Lee had a strong statement regarding former President Donald J. Trump’s indictment for his handling of classified documents.

“The Biden administration’s actions can only be compared to the type of oppressive tactics routinely seen in nations such as Venezuela, Bolivia, and Nicaragua, which are absolutely alien and unacceptable in America. It is an affront to our country’s glorious 246-year legacy of independence from tyranny, for the incumbent president of the United States to leverage the machinery of justice against a political rival. Such an act of absolute disrespect echoes despotism, making it fundamentally at odds with American democratic values,” Lee’s full statement on Twitter said.

He was not alone. Outgoing Utah congressman, Rep. Chris Stewart had this to say in his statement:

“These charges are equally unprecedented and unconscionable. This is a sad day for any American who believes in the rule of law. The National Archives have confirmed that every single president since Ronald Reagan has mishandled classified materials. There are clearly two standards of justice in our nation: one for people named Biden or Clinton and one for everyone else. I stand with President Trump against this brazen weaponization of our legal system.”

It looks like President Joe Biden and the democrats won the recent debt deal “in the fine print”, according to Senator Mike Lee.

“[The Republicans are] still claiming victory. This is not a victory. This is capitulation,” he said in an interview with The Hill.

In the same article, he warns that the Fiscal Responsibility Act could potentially add $4 trillion dollars to the national debt before the government will need to discuss further funding in January of 2025.

This act also gives President Biden and Shalanda Young, Director of the United States Office of Management and Budget. Those are spending powers they should not have.

Celebrating our Veteran’s and Those Who Have Gone Before UsCelebrating our Veteran’s and Those Who Have Gone Before Us

We are a product of those who came before us. Their lives and choices help shape who we are. Russell M Nelson said, “When our hearts turn to our ancestors, something changes inside us. We feel part of something greater than ourselves.”

Senator Mike Lee has a good pedigree. His Grandfather, Rex Lee Sr. (1905-1934), was labeled by those who knew him as an honest attorney, despite his young age. He tragically died in a hunting mishap on this day 89 years ago, November 11, 1934.

With regard to Veteran’s Day, Senator Lee said, “America owes its veterans and their families an enormous debt of gratitude for putting themselves at risk to protect our rights and freedoms.  Some have made the ultimate sacrifice to safeguard our lives, and for that, Americans will be forever grateful.” – From his website

Mike Lee’s great uncle, Warren Lambert Hussey (1896-1976) served in World War I, both in Florida and overseas in 1918-1919, before being honorably discharged from service.

As Senator Lee has said, “The family is the most basic and essential building block of American society, and strong families are the best predictor of financial, educational, and emotional success in life.” Five years after returning from the war, Hussey married his life long sweetheart, Pearl Clark, and they raised two children as he served most of his career in the US Railroad Mail Service. They remained committed to each other until his death in 1976.
