Martin Luther King Day

Thank you Senator Lee for continuing to stand up for the rights of all Utahns.

Today, we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. day for his landmark accomplishments in Civil Rights. One of the most remarkable aspects of his accomplishments is he preached peaceful resolutions to incredibly controversial issues.

He never declared war. He never encouraged violence. He preached of a better America that gave equal rights and opportunities to its citizens of all color.

We live in a sometimes contentious time, but we can follow Dr. King’s example and disagree better. We do not have to devolve into the hateful rhetoric that sometimes permeates the world of politics.

We believe Mike Lee strives for this as he pursues his discussions in the Senate. There are times when he proposes bills that vehemently disagree with policies or viewpoints held in the Senate, but he strongly but respectfully is able to defend his position.

Thank you Senator Lee for your approach in these difficult situations.

Mike Lee should run for president. He’s right on the money.

Utah Statehood DayUtah Statehood Day

Thank you Senator Lee for your good representation of Utah and its values.

Today is the 128th anniversary of Utah becoming a state. According to Utah.gov, “From his White House office, President Grover Cleveland, on Saturday, 4 January 1896, issued the proclamation admitting Utah to the Union as the forty-fifth state. Two days later, 6 January 1896, the newly elected officers of the state of Utah were inaugurated, and celebrations erupted throughout the new state.”

The Lee’s have served our wonderful state for multiple generations, with Rex Lee serving as the 10th president of Brigham Young University and his sons, Thomas serving as a Utah Supreme Court Justice from 2010-2022 and Mike serving as a Senator from 2010 to the present.

The state of Utah and its citizens have made many contributions to the United States and continue to do so.

In the past month, Senator Lee has been involved in many significant bills being presented to the Senate, including:

  • Introducing the DEFUND Act, which ends unlimited taxpayer contributions to the United Nations, and proposes the U.S. departure from the U.N. because of their lack of fiscal responsibility and violations against sovereign United States allies. (See the bill here)
  • Introducing the ACE act, which gives parents more education options for their children that don’t like the ideological influences available to their students. Click here to see the bill.
  • Creating the Protect American Gun Exporter Act, which fires back against the Biden Adminstration’s recent oppressive laws against American gun exporters. Click here to learn more.

Thank you Senator Lee for defending the values and right of the citizens of our great state.

Mike Lee should run for president. He’s right on the money.

Mike Lee on the War Against DiabetesMike Lee on the War Against Diabetes

June 22, 2023

Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT), Ted Budd (R-NC), and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) introduced a bill aimed at empowering patients and improving the outdated regulation of islet transplantation, a cutting-edge treatment for individuals with Type 1 Diabetes. Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) introduced a companion bill in the House of Representatives. Focused on patient-centered care, this effort would move islets to a more appropriate regulatory framework.

Of the bill, Sen Lee said, “This bill holds tremendous potential for those living with this chronic condition, offering the possibility of reducing or eliminating the need for injected insulin. By redefining islets as organs rather than drugs, we aim to align the regulatory framework with the scientific advancements in the field. This will promote innovation, enhance patient access to islet transplantation, and potentially improve outcomes and quality of life for individuals with Type 1 Diabetes. It is time for Congress to act and address the regulatory mismatch that currently hinders progress in islet transplantation. By granting regulatory authority to the appropriate agencies and prohibiting the classification of islets as drugs, we can unlock the full potential of this life-changing procedure.

The Government is Threatening to Shut Down (Again)The Government is Threatening to Shut Down (Again)

Senator Mike Lee is receiving a lot of attention this week about his comments on the possible government shutdown. He has remained steadfast on his position that it is both important to keep the government open, but not use the threats of these shutdowns to pass sneaky and unnecessary future spending bills. Here are some of his most recent comments:

On Twitter/X: “When it comes to spending bills, Republican leadership in the Senate has proven really effective at three things: 1. Uniting Democrats. 2. Dividing Republicans. 3. Keeping lobbyists happy. This must come to an end.:

In another stinging rebuke on Twitter/X he wrote: “We could have easily had this debate months ago, but the Law Firm (currently organized as “Schumer, McConnell, McCarthy and Jeffries”) has long preferred to wait until the last minute to make an aggressive push to pass spending bills. When we approach the end of September…, The Firm then insists on writing its own legislation in secret, often revealing it to members of Congress for the first time only 48 hours before a long-scheduled shutdown window. This pattern has repeated itself over and over again. It always ends the same way—avoiding a shutdown, but producing deficits in the trillions of dollars, and empowering The Firm each time it happens. This, in short, is perhaps the single biggest reason why we’re $33 trillion in debt.”

He is not pro-shutdown, however. On a Fox News Interview: “I think a government shutdown is possible. I think it’s avoidable, I think we should avoid it,” Lee said. “I think the best way to proceed at this point is to pass something that keeps the government funded for a few weeks.”

We recognized his efforts in this arena a year ago, and produced a newspaper ad under our previous Organization name, “Seniors for Mike Lee.” This ad won a prestigious national Pollie Award in April of this year. It is just as relevant today as it was last year:

Mike Lee should run for president. He’s right on the money.
